Retro Fighting Action in Brawl Arena

Brawl Arena is a beat-em-up with a distinctive visual style, harking back to old-school pixel-based graphics. Choose your fighter from the roster and send them into battle with the other competitors across a range of different fantasy backdrops. All manner of dark magical powers will be used in these battles, and only a skilled fighter will survive...

A Fighting Game with a Retro Flavour

Brawl Arena embraces the pixel art stylings of classic 8-bit games, but also adds a few graphical innovations to create its own distinctive style. Its roster of fighters includes the dark monk Dedhalus, the undead axe-wielder Nekro, the aquatic Squildor, the sapient fieball Flame, the sinister bowman Trofu, the robot warrior Graigler and more. The character designs draw heavily on the weird and wonderful world of Japanese anime, as filtered through the game's retro aesthetic.

Game Features

Brawl Arena may look simple from the outside, but it has a range of options which add a little depth to its playability. Amongst these is a local multiplayer mode, so you will be able to get some friends around and see whether Flame will be able to take on Nekro in battle. It also has a set of achievements, so that the most hardcore players will be rewarded as they play. Factor in the bizarre fantasy landscapes, which range from a world of ice to a lollipop-laden candy land, and you can be sure of a good time.

PROS

  • Expansive roster of characters
  • Multiplayer and single modes

CONS

  • Graphical style will not be to every taste
  • No online multiplayer.
